For more than 175 years Ebenezer has been an active part of the Stockton Christian community and has provided services to its residents in religious, social and economic areas. The African Methodist Episcopal Church established in 1787, is the oldest Black Church in America. Ebenezer AME was established in Stockton, California in 1849 by Father Peter Green.
Ebenezer’s “Light” has shone throughout the community of Stockton for over 175 years; giving service to all by conducting the Brownies, Girl and Boy Scout Units, Alcoholic Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous Meetings, Feeding the homeless, sharing the word of God before each meal. In addition, Ebenezer has also provided free clothing, serving the senior and youth by developing computer classes, math tutoring, free music classes and every year with Vacation Bible school.
